This is a super-short post just to highlight one comment making the rounds on Twitter:
As Colin Wright pointed out, what is meant by “forced puberty” here is growing up, a body undergoing the entirely natural changes nearly every body has undergone as long as the human race has existed.
Michelle Zier is also correct here:
I would point out that this matches language we’ve seen in Michigan of “forced birth”. This is language employed by abortion advocates, and applied to people who are already pregnant (and that doesn’t just happen you know), again to suggest that an insistence that their body be allowed to complete the natural process it has already begun is evil.
A Christian worldview gives us the strength to praise much of the natural world (like childbirth) as good, but to also recognize that some natural processes (like cancer) are a result of a broken universe and that it is good for us to try to halt those processes. With little exaggeration, modern Western secularism has trouble distinguishing between a cancer, and puberty, and pregnancy, now - all three are just interruptions of what I might want for myself. (I have said for a long time that, for the modern Left, advocacy of abortion, and advocacy for transgenderism, are really rooted in the same thing now - dreams of a transhuman future.)
It is also somewhat fascinating that people who reject any transcendent nature of man, who insist that the natural is all that is, have also become so opposed to the natural, to insist that the desires of man should override all. (This is also why an environmentalism that believes humans should live in harmony with the planet is now, to my mind, a conservative concern. Progressivism doesn’t believe in living in harmony with the natural. Progressivism believes in doing whatever we want to the natural to get what we want out of it.)
The unifying theme of the confused and dangerous today is transhumanism
It's the point about how the committed left has become very supportive of biochemical artifice, whether it's pharmaceuticals or hormone therapies; and of course, all the plastic involved with making covid paraphernalia.
I don’t usually post anything on fb but I’m gonna risk the ire of many and post it anyways.
