Enjoyed your AI experiences and related insights. Well summarized. I share your mixed reaction to the pros and cons of AI, especially in the realm of classical education where the depth of human reason cannot be forged in any meaningful way by AI machinery. In the end, AI can save time, but is limited to trusted data access AND can never be real "intelligence" due to its inability to independently reason and pursue absolute truth like a human can as a being created in the image of God. This, to me, is a basic and vital reality (i.e. spiritual reality) beyond the ability of mankind to construct. "In God We Trust" applies aptly to our consideration of the true value ofAI.
One of my fundamental problems with artificial intelligence and the prospect of having Google, Facebook, and Elon Musk "guide" us with it is, who is going to be held responsible if an AI program says something that isn't true, and this falsehood harms you? These companies haven't, over the past few decades, shown themselves to be at all humble, or willing to listen to or heed people who have no power over them.
Another, related concern is that we just escaped from having our daily lives controlled by remote authorities forcing us to follow their "guidance." Why should we believe Google, Facebook, Musk, etc., are any more trustworthy than Fauci, Collins, Walensky, Biden, Trump, etc.?
Perspective 3
AI are demons and should be killed with fire.
I may have to share this reply with students tomorrow.
